These fabulous birds are so much fun to
shop for, they love everything!
These parrots love to hang upside down & swing, side to side or around &
around, from their toys so make sure they have plenty of room for this
activity, to avoid injury.
Generally these birds love to untie
knots for the purpose of watching something, anything,
fall to the
floor below and if it makes noise when it hits, all the better!
Foot toys are always at the top of their wish list, especially ones they
can take apart,
open, shred or use as a tool to scratch those pesky pin
feathers.
They usually prefer floppy hanging toys that they can hold in their feet
while they chip & chew it to shreds.
Please note; the bigger the mess they can
make, the happier the bird!
A good bell toy is definitely
necessary for this playful group of parrots.
Since they are usually quiet birds, they need a good bell to get your
attention.
They love to shred all sorts of different textures but can can easily fall
into
the "wood rut" so wood toys should be kept to a minimum & should be
limited to soft, easy to shred woods.
These birds will loose interest very quickly in toys that they can not
shred or at least disassemble.
A peculiar behavior, particularly of the Senegal in this group, is that they may be
terrified of a new toy when you hang it on their gym or in their cage but
if you leave it out, within reach, they will sneak over and steal it while
you aren't looking. They prefer that new things are "their" idea &
not yours. A toy box or basket is a good choice for this reason, once they
have accepted the new toy it can usually be hung without a problem.
The color red is either a favorite or it is hated with a passion,
but in general, all colors are good.
Boings & Bouncers are also a must for these rambunctious parrots.
Birdie beds are accepted by this group about 50% of the time,
especially
if they are introduced while the bird is young
