General Play Behavior of Parrotlets
(complied over more than 10 years of play behavior studies & research)

Don't be fooled by the size of these parrots, the Parrotlet does not know how small it really is. and they can be more destructive with toys than you might imagine.
The toys listed above may seem like over-kill in comparison to your tiny
little P'let but these playful birds are rarely intimidated by the size of a toy.
Parrotlets love to climb all over their toys, they will actually perch on the same toy
they are shredding just like their big Amazon cousins.
The large ball toys suggested above can be clipped or tied to the side of the cage
at perch level. They make the perfect place to perch & play. They also create the perfect place to secure a treat for your P'let, who otherwise can not hold it on their own.
Parrotlets rarely hold anything in their feet so foot toys,
unless clipped to the cage, are not the best choice in toys
Generally Parrotlets enjoy swings, boings & bouncers. A Slinky toy, attached at the top & bottom is a terrific climb and bounce toy for these little birds.
Parrotlets love different textures, paper, straw, grasses & cane, to name just a few.
They also love noise makers, bells and rattle type toys are a must.
Parrotlets love to snuggle & hide at night so sleepers are a must for this species.
We have 3 sleepers available, designed specifically to be safe for these tiny birds and as not to encourage nesting or egg laying. The "Grass Hut" is suggested above & the other two, "Flopsy Mopsy" & "Perch Ponchos" can be found under Birdie Beds
Please note; Like the Budgies & small soft bills, Parrotlets nails are very fine & can easily become caught or tangled in rope & fabric. Please bare this in mind when selecting toys for these birds & all parrots.
