General Play Behavior For Lories
(complied over more than 10 years of play
behavior studies & research) |
|
No other parrot can compare to a Lory when it comes to play,
although the Caique comes close.
*Bells bells & more bells are a must or anything that makes noise.
Bell toys should be easy to hang & swing from & fairly light-weight to
avoid potential injury.
*Foot toys, foot toys & more foot toys!
A large assortment of little foot toys should be always available for
these little clowns.
Many Lories will play with 3 at one time, one in each foot & a 3rd in
their
beak while they roll around on their backs (make certain they are
light-weight also)
Their favorite textures are things like paper, fabric & cellophane.
Purples, reds & bright yellows are usually very exciteing for Lories,
but
they tend to love all colors.
All birds need a lot of toys but the fabulous Lory needs about
double the amount of other parrots and they need to rotated often.
Please Note: Due to the particular play
behavior of these birds, their cages
should to be long & low
rather than tall & narrow
