Vet Recipe for Birdie Bread

This is the basic recipe I started out with

1 small box Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix
1 egg
1/4 cup of milk
1/4 cup grated sweet potato or butternut squash
8 reg str fruit flavored Tums, crushed to a fine powder

Measure milk and whisk in powdered Tums to dissolve as much as possible.
Add egg, stir in grated tater and add to dry mix. Stir until throughly mixed and thick batter is formed.

This is where I make my additions.
I have never used the Tums and instead I usually substitute other ingredients like shredded coconut,
thawed corn kernals, chopped nuts, grated carrot, crushed pellets, chopped pieces of bell pepper,
yellow squash, peas, or combo up to 1/4 cup. Whatever I have on hand that is in season.
No 2 birdie bread batches I have made are alike.

Bake in glass, aluminum or tinfoil disposable pan 8 X 8 at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes. Test with toothpick.

Cut into 1 inch squares and put 4-5 squares in ziplock bags.
Freeze all except the one you are using and keep it in frig.
This is an easy and fast recipe to make and only your imagination is needed here to add your
birds favorite things to it. And they never seem to tire of it as it is different each batch.
